We have organised an event to carry out a litter pick walk on Jesus Green (and possible Midsummer Common as well if enough people turn up!) and wanted to know if you were interested/able to help promote our event and try and reach as many people as possible.

It will be held on Sunday the 14th of July from 10 am to 11 am (so not too long a time) meeting at and ending up at the Jesus Green Lido so we can use bathrooms and relax with a nice coffee and a small cake after.

Families are more than welcome and it could be a nice group activity as well. The pool has offered to give anyone who attends use of the pool after the event so it should be a great opportunity to get out, get moving, help keep our parks clean and then have a nice relaxing swim in the (hopefully/fingers crossed) nice weather.

Anyone who participates will also get a gift card worth £5 to use in the store (and I will also offer them a small 10% discount to go with it).

Adding to our Go-Tri event season we are co-hosting a mini triathlon in partnership with Cambridge City Council and Better GLL at Jesus Green Lido on Sunday 30th June.

The swim will take place in the Jesus Green Lido, the largest of its kind at 100yards long, with the run and cycle laps both off-road on Jesus Green.

9am: Adults (18+)
Super sprint. 200m swim / 5km bike / 2km run

10am: Juniors (8-10, 11-13 and 14-16)
8-10: 50m swim / 1km bike / 0.5km run
11-16: 100m / 2km bike / 1km run

London Fields Lido – Wednesday 16th January

A group of 8 people joined our visit to London Fields Lido:

Despite a late start & a slow journey owing to a cancelled train, cold showers at the pool and heavy rain later we all enjoyed the day – the pool was warm, steamy, & uncrowded.

Following our swim we enjoyed a late lunch together at the excellent El Ganso Tapas bar in Broadway Market then walked to Liverpool Street Station for the train back to Cambridge.

We are thinking of making these trips a monthly out of season event.

A group of us are going to swim in the 50 metre outdoor heated pool in London Fields next Wednesday 16th January.

We will be taking the 10.04 train from Cambridge to Cheshunt on the Liverpool Street line and then changing to the local train for London Fields.

All welcome meet at the station.

Richard and Francis attended the ‘Better Club Games’ on 10th October,
held at the Q.E. Olympic Park in London.

They joined 3 other members of the Cambridge swim team at the Olympic
pool ‘competing’ against Better teams (all over 60s are eligible) from
London and the Southeast.

Other Cambridge members competed in events in the Copper Box – events
such as Table Tennis, Badminton, Cycling and Dominoes.

A great day out with a coach (and T-Shirts) being provided by Better.

Perhaps next year more Friends of Jesus Green Lido will be able to join us?
