Friends of Jesus Green Pool Winter Lunch Party

will be on

Saturday 10th January 2015 at 12.15 until 3pm

at

Little St Mary’s Parish Centre, Trumpington St, Cambridge CB2 1QG (next to Peterhouse).  

The venue is the same as last year.  Enter via the gate on Trumpington St or via Little St Mary’s Lane. As you enter the north porch of the church, the entrance to the Parish Centre is facing you.  We shall put a notice on the door.  Do not be put off by the scaffolding around the church! Please bring food and drink to share as usual.

As the season draws to a close thoughts turn to our annual outing to Dunwich.

• Meet in or near the beach café at about 11am (Post code: IP17 3EN)
• Coffee at café
• Swim in sea together
• Fish and chips at café
• Beach walk to National Trust (Dunwich Heath) tearoom
• Return walk (via beach or cliff)
• Depart about 4pm

Today the pool cafe, all be it with limited options due to electricity supply problems.

Two budding entrepreneurs, Rickie & Will have taken it on for the season. They certainly seem very enthusiastic and on the ball.

I gave them the results from our little mail shot which has garnered 18 responses in 24 hours! Cheese, Coffee, banana’s, tea, Tomato, Water, Mango, Egg, Apple & Tuna appear in the top 10 of requested items. We wish them well in their endeavour.

BETTER have this week (9th June) released a paper questionnaire, available from the basket room, asking swimmers for their preferences at the proposed new cafe. We urge you to fill it in, alternatively you can fill it in here, all results will go to BETTER.

At the public meeting we had a few weeks ago with BETTER they invited all Friends to attend a pre-opening party.

So tonight ,we shared Cava & Canapes with the BETTER managers & staff at the poolside. It was a gorgeous balmy evening and the Pool was an inviting 14.9 degrees so most of us managed a few lengths. The party was well attended with about 25 friends enjoying the evening.

Apparently they have been checking out a suitable large clock to place on the pump house as per our request at the meeting, Hopefully it won’t cost £1million like the Corpus clock 🙂
